Brrrrr

Well, the weather predictions this week bounced all over the place. What looked promising is now a brrrr fest. Obviously, no riding tonight unless...... just joking!

We will just have to reflect back on last weeks, 4 night laps, of prime full moon bliss. Really, this is Canada and we did enjoy prosperous riding conditions right up until the middle of November. No complaints and much gratitude from this guy.

For the stubborn, tough, diehard, maybe crazy mofo's in the lot... don't fret too much. If you want to keep pointing your bike downhill... opportunities exist. Just be prepared to have your hand constantly close to that perspective dial and get used to being mocked by all those winter enthusiasts. So, if you wish, don't be constrained and make it happen and go ride! The hardest part is getting out the door.

As stated earlier this week, it is still great digging and still plenty to be done, so any interested peeps be sure to drop me a line. I am a firm believer, that if you contribute you get more out of it. So get involved and amplify!

At some point, I will likely do a recap of the Coalition season on the blog here. Keep tuned for that, and you never know, maybe the Chinook gods will touch down in all the right places and a call of the Coalition will have to be in the makes.

Cheers!

Thursday maybe??

Yo,

Conditions are not looking the best this week. Sunday's snow is sticking around longer than anticipated. At this point, the shuttle road @ Moose is looking quite sketch. I was thinking of giving Moose a couple more days of these moderate warm temps to maybe clear things up for potential Thursday night laps. If your interested have a look to the blog this Thursday AM.

Anyone not working this Friday, and that is interested in some woods/digging time, are more than welcome to join me to work on the Tdub gully re-route. We are making good progress on this project, and at this rate, may see it roughed in before the digging season comes to an end here. Many thanks and great trail Karma to those Coalitionite's that have been a part of this.

Enjoy your week!

Have dirt will ride

Troops,

It was really strange not having an epic evening adventure last Tuesday. Catching up on things on the home front gets a lil boring in a hurry. Luckily, conditions in the hills have brought back that procrastinating potential and the trails are yet again on the brink of our mint flavour of choice.

Tomorrow is a go. Meet in Cougar ridge for 5:30 or out at SF for 6:30. The temps are getting a little lower. So, ensure proper preventive prep is in the makes. As always an email heads up is much appreciated. I unfortunately don't have the remembrance day off, so riding during the day for this cat, isn't an option.

As a heads up... It's the full moon again this Thursday, and plans are in the makes, if any Coalitionite's are up for a late week fattire alpinefest. Let me know!

Go ride,

Reg

Evening ride this week postponed

Hello Troops,

It has been quite a streak. Most Tuesdays, leading right up to the end of October, have been stellar in the weather department, prime on the trails, and pinned on the flow and fun meters.

It looks this week that winter is certainly creeping up on us. Tonight's ride is postponed, and pending on conditions, we may aim to try and get some Coalition riding going on this Sunday. Send me an email if your interested. Ill be out that way on Friday(doing some digging if anyone wants to help....likely Saturday as well) and will scout out conditions.

Last week we kept momentum and managed an easily obtained five laps out at Moose mtn. Nine riders for five laps on a Tuesday evening.... is a fine demonstration of shuttling efficiency(thanks prez!), stoked troops and very capable night riders. 1 lap in the light down Tdub, 1 duskrun on JG(sketchy) and 3 full on night laps down Tdub, Toothless and ROS. Wow, is all I am saying. I never envisioned our troop evolving to such a level. I could easily keep going on that statement but shall divulge more at a future date.
Let me know if your down for the wknd.
Cheers,
Reg

Night riders of the Coalition

What can I say, really! 11 rippers, 4 laps, shuttle driver, fireworks, light layer of illuminating flow dandruff(snow for those not in the know), great vibes, post ride celebrations and all on a school night. Yeh Coalition! Rockin it!
Luckily, we had the mountain to ourselves, because on lap one the exhaust on the pil van kinda gave up the ghost, and forced us to all embrace any existing redneck tendencies. Kinda felt more like we were heading to a derby as opposed to riding bikes...

Planning on having the van fixed for tomorrow. Thanks again to Phil for not only driving us but utilizing some of his free time to help get the van sorted. Phil for prez!
The way this weather has been as of late is really just fate telling us to get out there and ride. I don't know about you but I don't need to be told more than once. The next few days are looking to be in the high teens. Get those lights charged. Bring the stoke and we will see you tomorrow @ Cougar for 4:30 or SF for 5. A quick email as always is much appreciated, and if you can't make original meet times, than we can always arrange to hookup for lap 2, 3 and or 4.

Go ride,

Reg

Tuesday night laps are on

Hello Troops,

Last Tuesday, was certainly an explosive evening of riding out @ Moose mountain. The Coalition managed 3 laps in the light, and a fourth night rip down john guy on the Rocks, was easily in the works. More to follow at a future date about last weeks pursuits/shenanigans.

Conditions are with us this fall, and it looks like Tuesday should provide another op for the Coalition to keep things rolling. So, same dealio as last week, Cougar ridge for 4:15ish, Station Flats for 5... situation.

I need confirmations to make it a go. Whereas, a couple of core and key
Coalitionite' s are taking a brief hiatus from riding, in pursuit of their quest, to truly understand the healing properties of the Milk. Keep us posted on all developments and fight a good fight. All the best!

Cheers,

Reg

Bonus riding!

Yo Troops,

Tonight's a go! Conditions are prime! Lets saddle up and keep the seasons momentum going full steam ahead. I am thinking 2 laps in the light and 1 night lap min. 5 @ Station Flats or 4:15 in Cougar Ridge. If making it out early is an issue than come on out for laps 2 or 3 or 4. The trailer is back in action for tonight... so efficiency should be obtained. Pics are of some Coalitionites shredding it up during the Toothless race. Thanks to CC for providing all the cool prizes for the participants.
This weekend is looking grand as well, so get out and ride, we could easily be snow covered right now. Take these bonus conditions to the bank, cash in, and point those bikes downhill were they belong.

Tuesday didn't see many takers for the full moon rip, so I won't rub it in too much on how awesome it was, I can't resist a couple of pics though.
It was this bright.... No lights required in the open sections.
See you tonight and go ride!

Ride night postponed to Thursday

Sorry troops, but it looks like conditions may be a lil on the sketchy side out @ moose today. I can't quite get a good look, but snow is evident from trailhead to trail bottom, and with the temps only getting up to 2 degs out that way, things will likely be soggy for this evening. Sucks, because I was amped to burn off some of the turkey and take advantage of the full moon situation. Hopefully, the sudden change to Thursday doesn't hinder anyone from coming out.

Thursday Station Flats for 5 or Cougar ridge for 4:15ish.

As a side option. I plan on heading out to do a Full moon Prairie Mountain hike a bike this evening. So, if any of you are down for such a scenario be sure to send me an email this afternoon. I did this last year during an October full moon and with a light layer of snow you don't even require lights in the Alpine. Pinning the ridge, at night, without lights, on a shallow layer of snow, will leave you speechless. This is most certainly a for troopers only event, considering the slog and the cold factors.

Last week the Coalition kept streaking with an easily obtained three lap minimum. It was a Phil for president situation, thanks for coming out to shuttle, and hopefully Wizzla was great for you on the wknd here.

Sorry for the lack of foto's in the blog as of late, but with shuttling efficiency being our prime goal, we haven't been stopping to session much.

Thursday we ride! Or tonight if you reside in trooperville.

Cheers,

R.

Early this Tuesday!

Yo Troops,

Mega props to all you Coalitionites that came out to the race/trailday out @ moose this weekend. Great to see you all wanting to give back and supporting the trails. Very impressed!

After all that buffing on Saturday, as a result of the trail day, I can't wait to rip the goods. So, after some quick discussions we have decided to push Tuesdays ride to a little earlier than previous rides. Meet @ 5 @ Station Flats or 4:30 for Cougar ridge. Heads up as always is much appreciated.

Last weeks ride night was a dandy. With 3 laps and some of the best fall weather I have ever experienced.

See you tomorrow,

Reg

Who wants to ride??

Hey Troops,

I just returned from a week long road trip, and am stoked to see that the weather has been holding and conditions are back to prime. Lets meet tomorrow@ 5 @ Cougar Ridge or 5:30 @ Station Flats. If you could please give me a heads up, if you are in for rippage, that would be much appreciated.

I was thinking some quick sessions, for the up and coming fun race on Toothless, this weekend. Plus, other Moose treats of course.

I just have to somehow get my bike back in order.

See you all tomorrow!

Coalition postponed to Tuesday the 30th

Hey Troops
Last week was another amazing ride night. 4 laps on a week night at this time of the year is capital E epic. Super rushed for time here, but I will just post the pics, so you all can have a gander.

And than it was dark. It's only dark but lights do help.

Have a great week everyone. I will be soaking up the fine flow of whistler... Sorry, I am not trying to rub it in at all.

Go Ride!

Coalition hike a bike Pictorial

I realize everyone appreciates different styles of riding, and I sometimes feel a little too strongly, towards unique terrain, working to obtain it, and establishing the mountain in mountain biking.
As we were hiking up last week... I kept doubting myself. Are others really going to be enjoying this anywhere close to my level...? Really, should I be dragging a group of riders up a mountain that not many would ever think of carrying a 40lb bike up? We kept on pushing, I kept on pondering and we finally persevered to the top. We pointed our bikes down, and I was so intrigued and elated to see everyone finding the stoke, exercising the riding skills and getting all tacky in a totally unique and foreign environment. Stepping out of the box and stepping up to the plate! Amazing riding everyone!
As the following Foto's demonstrate(Photo with an F is more Fun)...
First you have to work for it, "because it's a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll", as a friend of mine likes to say. It's not that bad, one step at a time! And now, "we go down"!
Terry's virgin ride on his new bike. The brakes work that's for sure!
Jason just lovin, "The Rock"!

Foto above has Regan showing that tech is his thang!
Yeh, that's right, that's my line!
Phil cookin the steeps.
Discussing/showing some of the lines and spotting some of the crew.

Lazy, isn't so lazy, and loves the tech.
Keeping it steep and deep on two wheels!
Terry and Jason dropping in.
Pete exercising some demons and stepping it up. Nice work buddy!
Gary and his Knolly killin it!
The most Canadian American I know... Lovin the Canadian terrain, as per usual.

Chilaxin, snering a beverage/fire and celebrating an awesome ride! Good times yo!
Thanks for the wicked pics Logan and Pete.

See you all tonight!

Tonight we Ride - meet a half hour earlier

Hey Troopers

It's prime fall riding conditions right now! So, I figured it best if we meet a half hour earlier than normal. If this is a concern to any of you Coalitionites, let me know VIA email.
Sorry for the Delay in the blog, yet again, but I have been waiting on the foto's from last weeks hike a bike. I had a quick glimpse, but need better resolution, before I can post them up. Hopefully, that will be today. Teaser included of the, "great rock slab session of 08". Super stoked on the pics and the technical riding representation from the troop. More on that later, with the posted pics.

So, 5:30 @ Cougar ridge or 6 @ Station Flats. My lights are on charge and ready to go!

Cheers,

Reg

Ride night postponed to Wednesday!

Troops,

It looks like it may be best to postpone Coalition night to Wednesday this week. It's calling for showers tomorrow evening, and with the lower temps, riding in the wet can be a little uncomfortable. I hope this doesn't hinder any one's ability in coming out.

As discussed, we will be putting our fat tires down on some unique terrain, in the form of a hike a bike in the front ranges. It's not that big of a hike and provides ample ops for some very interesting sessioning.

Lets meet @ Valley Ridge for 5:30 ish (Turn right off TransCanada into VR, go straight through the traffic circle, turn left at the 4-way, and park on the right hand side beside the fence of the golf course).

If you could confirm if your in, that would be much appreciated.
See you all Wednesday!

It's still the season!

Yo troops,

The Coalition is keeping this season alive and kickin. The more I get to follow some of you rippers on the trails, the more I am amazed at the amount of progression, as a result of these Tuesday sessions. Stoked to see and be a part of it all.

Last Tuesday saw a conquered 3 lap minimum without the need for lights. The Coalition sampled the tasty treats of JG on the rocks, SLF and Toothless. Conditions where divine and the system efficient! By system, I mean shuttling, and you know it's efficient when you are doing 3 laps in 2 hours. As for pics, none from last week here, but we will have to make up for that on next weeks ride.
People, It's still the season! Fall beautiful Fall! The air is crisp and fresh, the dirt is moist and tacky, and the post ride high fives are remembered and reflected upon. Get out there and seize!
Hopefully, Ill be pointing my ride at this trailhead on numerous occasions over the wknd here.
For next week, we may mix it up a little, and hit up a hike a bike in the Bow corridor. Il attach some stoke pics(courtesy of Tyler Reid photography). Look to the blog here on Monday for confirmation and logistics.

Have a great weekend!
Cheers,
Reg

Bring your hoodies!

Troops,

Tonight is a go! I need confirmation from 5 people to make it work... so send me a quick email or text if your in. Bring warm riding gear, lights and your brapp!

Last weeks Coalition night was an epic. We cruised through our 3 lap minimum like a bunch of all stars. Lap three was a full on night lap down Race of Spades. Good times! Ill be updating the blog when I have more time here.

Lets ride!

Cheers,

Reg

adept @ adapting

Troops of the Coalition,

Hopefully you all had another grand of a wknd. I know I did! Sometimes, I almost feel guilty, living a life where I can participate in an activity that captivates my capacities in such an amazing environment and at such an elevated level. Fortunate, is the only word that comes to my mind...so be thankful and captivate folks!

After getting over my initial discontent, with having to take the first hit on lap one last week,(2 weeks in a row people...) another epic midweek adventure was had. The pics snapped, showed the troop was in shred mode, down JG on the rocks.

Some of the crew were stepping it up and I believe the following snap catches Kirk hitting up the SLF gap for the first time. Way to go Kirk and thanks for those post ride bevy's last week!

Lap 2... we hit up the TDUB and it's obvious that every one's familiarity with the trails, and technical riding on a weekly basis, is reflected when tires are a turning.

We typically use the, "team pil" van and trailer for shuttling and apparently the setup has taken a little too much abuse, over the summer. On lap 2, we snapped one of the leaf spring mounts on the trailer, severely impeding our request for a 3 lap minimum. This is not supposed to be a funny situation, but somehow we turned this catastrophic shuttle issue, into an op to prove our adaptability and share some humour. Issue resolved in record time, with some sorting of all the collective suggestions resulting in a temp fix, involving a rock, SWAK of duct tape, pil can and 2 tie downs. Yep, Adept @ adapting.

We figured it best to not push our luck and switch to van shuttling and save the trailer for the ride home. So we plucked a row of seats and loaded up the van(s) for our 3rd lap. This was to be a true dusk run, lights not really necessary but an advantage if you were so equipped and several Coalitionights were. Toothless was the trail of choice and our 3 lap minimum was in the bag.
Tuesday looks to be AOK in the weather dept and full steam ahead for the Coalition. 5 @ CC, 5:30 @ Cougar ridge, or 6:30 @ Station Flats. As always a heads up is appreciated. Have lights bring lights situation.

Cheers,

Reg
